Tune into your brainwaves!

Get Smart Radio is broadcast in front of a live audience. Our topics vary from show to show but always feature conversations with scientists, thinkers and artists, live music, and audience participation.

Get Smart Kids Course

Starting January 2010, Deborah Pardes, creator and host of Get Smart Radio, began offering a series of workshops for young adults. These workshops (in Venice, California) are 2 hour sessions, once a week, for 6 weeks. In the final week of the course, Get Smart Radio broadcasts  live shows that feature the students as guest hosts and interviewers.

  • how to research the topic
  • how to choose guests for the show
  • how to prepare for both a live and a taped show
  • how to interview guests
  • how to prepare questions
  • how to respond to questions
  • how to present to a live audience and a remote audience simultaneously
  • how to include live audience questions in the show
  • a brief introduction to internet radio, Podcasting, and audio technologies

This course is a great introduction to the art of broadcast journalism and internet radio.

  • Each class is limited to 6 students
  • Students can choose Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 3:30 – 5:30 sessions.
  • Once a student chooses the day, he/she must stay with that group.
